Like many books, this too has many characters. (Side note: his master grows to appreciate it.) By the end of this book, Will has proven his worth as a Ranger’s apprentice. He asks a lot of questions, much to his master’s annoyance. Will was gifted with a pony – a special pony – but a pony, nonetheless. He wasn’t even given a mighty steed to ride. However, at the age of 15, he was still awaiting his growth spurt. Will is tough and has excellent endurance. They must be tough, muscular, of a certain height, and have a lot of endurance. They’re basically assassins, scouts, etc. In the military hierarchy, rangers are one step above knights. It follows Will and his journey to becoming a ranger.
